From Pines to Castles

 Chapter Nineteen                                                          19

The next morning, Maeva had her hair and make-up done by Anabelle.  Also, Kate was there and the lead tailor of the Tailor Shop was there to help her put on the multi pieces wedding dress. He promised he would stay during the ceremony to help her until the Celtic tunic was not needed anymore. He would then leave with it as his services would no longer be necessary and he would secure the dress until it was returned to the Heritage Foundation.

When it came the time to open the letter and velvet box, Maeva asked that no one but Kate, stay with her. She sat at the vanity and first took the envelop in her hands, putting it to her mouth. She kissed it. She started to open it and noticed Sky had written on the inside of the opening panel “My love, open the velvet box first. Read the card and the documents after. I love you. Sky.” She put the envelop down and took the box in her hands. It had a front push gold button. She pressed on the button the box opened. Both her and Kate gasped at what they saw inside. The necklace was made of an inch and a half in diameter blue-gray pearls strung together and interspaced with small white diamonds. In the front middle of the necklace, the pearls were interspaced with three elongated white gold casings each holding a white lozenge diamond about one inch in length and half an inch in width. To unhook the necklace completely from the box’s insert, she had to pull on two small tabs. When the first insert lifted, she could see there were pearls all the way to a white gold clasp in the form of both their astrology signs; Scorpio and Taurus that intertwined together to form a very secure and creative clasp. Kate gasped again when she saw, in the second insert, a bracelet with the same cultured pearls and clasp, but this time there were smaller casings interspacing the colored pearls. Each casing held a lozenge diamond about the same size as the pearls themselves. One again, Maeva had to pull on tabs on each side of the insert to retrieve the bracelet. The third insert revealed pierced ears earrings. They perfectly matched the necklace and bracelet, but were a wonder of creativity. One was a studded colored pearl on which hanged a lozenge-shaped casing holding the same size diamond as the necklace. The other earing was exactly the same with the addition of a thin white gold chain that went from the studded colored pearl to an opened ring that could be closed on her top ear cartilage. The ring was adorned with little lozenge shaped diamonds. Maeva looked at Kate. They both had tears in their eyes from the attention and thought that had been put into this wedding gift. Maeva, still deeply touched by Sky’s extraordinary deep interest in making her happy, asked Kate to help her put them on. Kate carefully picked up the necklace and went in back of Maeva placing the necklace around her neck. As she lifted it to do this, she noticed some sort of inscription on two of the three diamond casings. Before she clasped it in place, she asked Maeva to take a look. Maeva read the initial S on the left and the initial M on the right. The middle casing was empty. She turned to look at Kate.

“He even thought about that. And I am sure the middle one and for our child to be.”, Maeva was now crying tears of joy.

“Oh Maeva, stop with the tears! You will ruin your make-up, my dear.”, Kate thought that this was surely premature and might put undo pressure on Maeva as she was not convinced at all that they would one day have a child, because of her age, but she did not express this thought. It was a happy occasion, and Maeva was touched to tears.

“Come on.”, said Kate, “Let’s put this beautiful gift on display on this lovely bride.”. Once that was done, Maeva returned to her seat in front of the vanity mirror and took the letter in her hand. She took out a card and a few documents on which Sky had written "Copies only; signed documents at home in the safe.”. She first read the card that was made from some old looking type of papyrus.

To the Love of my Life, to my Soulmate, my Everything, Maeva,

Today, you will become my wife and I, your husband. It is such a grand event for me that I felt the need to gift you with your wedding jewelry. Only someone that loves you as I love you can give you the gift of eternity for our love represented by diamonds. The color of the pearls, represents the sea and sky which binds us together forever. The five lozenge-shaped white diamonds are the only five of their kind. Now, they belong to you. Two that represent you and me. One between us that can become a much-wanted child. as for the two other diamonds, we will find out together what they represent from our life together .

The other gifts are for our life together. More specifically, for you to have homes you love where we can both travel to. You love Northern Canada and you have a son there.  I would like to explore it more with you. It was easy for me to see you wanted a lake house and you will find a copy of the deed in your name only, to your lake house up North.

As you know, I had already purchased the house and land we live on presently. We both love the domain and our life there. We are now both on the deed and are proud owners of our first piece of real estate together. You will find a copy of the deed now in both our names.

I have never loved as I love you.

Your love forever,

Sky

The wedding was just as they had both imagined. It had been perfectly planned by Jess and her team. Nothing was amiss. Nothing, but for one thing. Sky’s mother. She stared at Maeva relentlessly. Sky noticed and whispered in Jess’s ear. Maeva saw that his parents changed table, but didn’t really see them again until way after the celebration was done.

It had been only drizzling a little and it was warm, so they kept the entry tunnel tent but were able to take away the walls from the big event tent. Sky had a perfect eyesight and he was able to take in the beauty of her entrance as soon as the tunnel permitted him to see her. He recognized the tunic right away but was mesmerized by the transformation it had gone through and Maeva was wearing the full ensemble. Her shiny silver white hair lay on her shoulders and chest, all-natural waves and curls, just like a Celtic princess. He was glad she kept her hair natural. That was how she looked the first time he saw her with her hair down, the day he fell in love with her.

There was a slight breeze, just enough for her hair and the ribbons on her crown to move about her creating a dream-like effect. The bottom of her light dress ruffled about with each step and the movement was accentuated by the tunic keeping the soft chiffon tight around her body and letting it flare-up below her knees, giving it a mermaid tail effect. Every step she made, the dress lifted up slightly and revealed small off-white sandals ornate with pearls matching with the tunic’s front buttons. The three-quarters tunic sleeve did the same with the chiffon that was puffy as well as hanging low beneath her forearms. The closer she got, the more he could distinguish that her face, apart from bluish mauve lipstick and an blue eyeliner line on her top eyelids, appeared to be devoid of make-up. The indigo-blue eyeliner was her trademark. It accentuated her big Bambi eyes, Maeva’s lips were not plumped as was the trend these days. They were full, but her mouth was tiny, roundish and its corners turned down giving her a constant pouty look, which was extremely appealing to him. Her turned up nose gave her beauty a youthful look. She appeared to be younger than her age. He was ingrained so profoundly in his thoughts that he didn’t realize the closer she got to him, the more his eyes welled up. She was his best friend, his lover, his soulmate, his everything. And they were about to be married.

Maeva was approaching Sky slowly. She had eyes only for him. She knew her family, his family and many celebrities were present, but Sky eclipsed them all. When she first saw him from the tunnel, he looked immense, tall and handsome but she couldn’t yet tell how he was dressed. From where she was, it seemed like he was wearing a regular white dress suit. The more she approached, the more she saw his pants and shirt were white but the jacket was off white made from a jacquard weave in a similar pattern as her Celtic tunic. His jacket was buttoned on the side with white pearl buttons and finished at the neck with a Irish style Mao collar. The colors he wore brightened the light blue in his eyes and his perfect glowing skin. His natural curls were slightly straightened, just as she liked his hair to be. She noticed he was looking at her coming down the aisle with his shy smile and tears in his eyes. She found it so hard, not to throw herself into his arms. When she reached him, he went down two steps and gave her his arm for her to keep her balance while dealing with her dress. She noticed he was wearing the cuffs she had left for him in his bedroom before leaving yesterday night. There were the Hawthorne Armory design in white gold with a touch of obsidian as a black background to the Armory. In the package she left for him, she also gave him some chains made of different metals and in different colors She had written a note to let him know that she knew he would have to take off his wedding ring during work, and it was alright with her as long as he wore it on his heart.

They had decided on one simple pledge; they would tell each other simultaneously, as to always be able to remember it and repeat it to each other during their time together, whenever they felt it necessary.

« My love, I pledge you everlasting love, honesty and true emotional support. I’ll be there for you, always. I love you.”

This was the beginning of everything.
